Transcendentalism ~ Seeking the Best Version of Oneself As I consider myself a Libertine Libertarian, without paying obedience to the Libertarian Party ~ which isn't nearly as Libertarian as I! ~ so, too, do I call myself a Transcendentalist, without paying obedience to the historical Transcendentalists of the American 19th century. Happiness From my perspective, Transcendentalism boils down to one simple thing: Happiness. I have spent countless hours, over the course of many years, delving ever deeper into that most important of all questions that we should all constantly ask ourselves: Am I as happy as I can possibly be? If not ~ or if so! ~ what changes might I make to become even happier? One Great Truth that I believe I've discovered: Most people mistake pleasure...for Happiness. He's speaking of Fulfillment, of course. But Fulfillment isn't about jumping out'f airplanes, or going on that vacation that you always wanted to go on, or any of that Bucket List crap. Those things are about pleasure, and while pleasure is a perfectly healthy part of anyone's spiritual diet, it doesn't feed the Spirit like Service does. Yes, Service. The only path to true Happiness is the simplest one: Live every day to be of Service to others. Why? Because we are all genetically programmed to fulfill a useful role ~ to be of Service to others ~ and if we all simply allow ourselves to make a daily focus of doing so, Fulfillment will inevitably follow. And Fulfillment inevitably begets Happiness. That is something only you can give you. Most people look at me blankly when I speak of such things. Random Political Thought of the Day Democratic voters tend to be excellent people, but they also tend to be tragically naive. Scum like Pelosi, Schumer, Biden, Harris, et cetera, are only interested in Power over you. Trump has done nothing but try to protect you, lower your taxes, and protect your jobs. Wake up.
