I believe, in time, that many people will admit that the worldwide response to the CoronaVirus was a spectacular failure, both a foolishly mismanaged response and a horrific waste of money. I point this out today, not to lambaste our administration, of which I am in fact a strong supporter, but because every day that we continue to needlessly hamstring every aspect of our economic life is an additional self-inflicted wound, and a futile one. The earlier that we stop the bleeding, the better. My proposal is simple, and is surely the proposal of many wise men and women: 1 > Channel concentrated resources to directly assist those most at risk. 2 > Leave everybody else to make their own safety decisions. What would the results unquestionably be? 1 > Better protection for those at risk. 2 > A robust economy for all. It ain't complicated.
