I was stunned to read that it's ever legal for Cops to enter a home without announcing themselves.
Breonna Taylor was of course the LouisVille Lady who was killed on March 13, when some idiots who happened to be Cops, without uniforms and without announcing themselves, broke into her home and killed her, doing so by returning fire when Taylor's boyfriend, Kenneth Walker, appropriately attempted to defend her home, with gunfire, against the idiots that he had every reason to believe were not Cops, but violent criminals, intent on mayhem...One could argue that he was spot on.
And it turns out that, despite warrants being written otherwise, it's not legal.
Washington Post: The no-knock warrant for Breonna Taylor was illegal
That's an even larger issue, I believe, than the need to exterminate the last vestiges of racism from our institutions. Any time the State presumes to be able to simply barge into anyone's home with potentially deadly force, we are all in danger. That is what the Gestapo used to do.
Here's hoping that that is specifically addressed on a national level.
