Loud Libertarian Thinking ~ Rayshard Brooks

There are 3 kinds of people who believe that what happened to Rayshard Brooks in Georgia was equivalent to what happened to George Floyd in Minnesota:

1 > Hypocrites
2 > Fools
3 > Liars

***

George Floyd didn't punch a Cop, steal his Taser, and then fire that Taser at a Cop.

George Floyd was completely subdued, with 2 cops and 1 murderous scumbag holding him down.

George Floyd was begging for his Life.

***

Rayshard Brooks, on the other hand, was attacking someone. He'd punched a Cop.

Rayshard Brooks had stolen a Cop's Taser, and was running away with it.

Rayshard Brooks had received several warnings.

Rayshard Brooks fired the Taser at the Cop.

I have a very low opinion of Tucker Carlson of Fox. But he does, at times, have tremendous guests.

One such is Dan Bongino, a veteran Cop and Secret Service Agent. I'll defer to him on this:

Here's the pertinent quote from Bongino, in case there're issues with embedding the Fox Video:

Former NYPD officer Dan Bongino told “Fox & Friends Weekend” that “there was a bad and a worse option” regarding the police-involved shooting death of 27-year-old Rayshard Brooks outside a Wendy’s in Atlanta. “The bad choice was to have to engage in a use-of-force episode with this individual who pointed a Taser back at a law-enforcement officer he had just punched in the face,” Bongino said. “It wasn’t a good option to have to engage with your firearm. There were no good options. He’s dead. The worse option is to let this subject continue to engage in use of force against them, without stopping the episode,” Bongino, a Fox News contributor, said. “Sadly, it resulted in his death, but make no mistake, the use of force was controlled by 1 person, the individual who resisted arrest, stole the weapon, ran away and then pointed it at the officers, which is clear on the video.”

Boom. There it is.

The moral of the story? Try to avoid shooting at Cops...or anyone else, for that matter.

And if they defend themselves, please try to remember: Cops are people, too.

And they have a right to defend themselves.

Here's a comprehensive video of the whole process, including Brooks firing the Taser at the Cops:

Did they overreact, in killing him? Perhaps. But if I am ever suddenly forced to face a choice between either allowing some violent criminal to shoot me with a Taser, and then do God only knows what, while I'm helpless, or shoot him before he shoots me...I'm shooting, and with no apologies.

If he dies, that is a tragedy.

But the fault for the violence, 100% of it, belongs to Rayshard Brooks, and him, alone.
